Blog #4: Working EQ

Q: What positive thing happen as a result of what you have completed so far?

A: I unfortunately do not have any good news about my progress as I have none so far. I'm attempting to figure out what my third option will be.

Q: Pick a piece of research or your interview. How has it helped you improve your understanding of your topic?

A:

Q: What has worked for you so far in the senior project?

A: It seems that staying calm and positive while struggling to stabilize my senior project is working.

Q: What hasn't worked so far?

A: Two possible mentors and topics have now been denied to me.

(5) Finding Value: Based on your experience so far,

Q: What possible question or questions come to mind regarding what you would like to study this year (don't list questions about the instructions relating to the senior project)?

Q: What is your end goal this year with your senior project (don't say get a good grade or gain knowledge, put specific things you want to accomplish in your senior project this year)

A: To be well educated in a profession of my choice and to persue it as a possible career.

Q: Who would you like to talk to you next? Why?

Blog #3: Interview Preparation

1. I do not have a mentor to interview yet. Here is the information of the woman I am trying to contact at the moment.

2.
In addition to my 5 pre-determined questions, I would like to know:
How much a rocket generally costs to build?
Is it common for someone to build and enter a rocket by themselves?

Blog 2: Topic Choice

A.

My topic is on rockets. More specifically, building them and launching them into space. I chose this topic because space and rockets have fascinated me since I was young. It has been a personal goal of mine to learn as much as possible about how they work and to maybe even help build one some day. The senior gives me a chance to explore a field that I've been interested in for a while and gives me a chance to share my fascination with others in an educational way.

B.

Effective Learner: As an effective learner at I-Poly, I will be in charge of my own success this year. I will not need others to watch over me to make sure I accomplish what is is that I need to accomplish. I will do well this year.

Effective Communicator: I will follow the instructions given to me by my teachers and follow up on any help that is extended to me. I will be lucky to receive much help from the teachers.

Effective User of Technology: I will take advantage of, but will not abuse the internet as a valid resource for my information. I will be creative when using it to help generate my findings as my studies continue.

Effective I-Poly Citizen: Missing any one day can prove to be a mistake if the wrong day is missed. It is my responsibility to make sure that I show up on time, every day. I will contribute and help out in any way that I can in order to better senior year for both my self, and my peers.

Blog 1: Summer Mentorship Component

Literal (Need to Know)

  • What are day like when you have to work in the rain?
  • What kinds of emergencies do you have to respond to?
  • What are the dangers associated with this career?
  • Is it an easy field to get into?
Interpretive

I learned how difficult and serious this job is. I've always taken these guys for granted and assumed the job was an easy one. It isn't. It's a serious task hat requires devotion. You have to like what you do. If you don't do it correctly, people can get sick and fingers will be pointed, but it all comes down to you. These guys scrub ponds, pools, fountains, and everything else of the sorts.

Applied

I know now that this is a possibility for me, but not one I would choose to do as a first choice. I'd like to explore other areas and professions to see what I may or may not be good at. I will not be pursuing this profession as my topic this year.
